Surge Channel
One last kick of the swell
through a slot in the rocks
I glide on moon-time
my body—my boat
knees to chest
a hundred years shed
at a stroke
Blown-down spruce criss-cross above
walls anemone'd, soft green
and dripping
Beyond, an eagle unseen
his call sharp
like sunbeams
